Daenamusup : Archiving Rumors in the Age of A.I.Interactive InstallationAug 2023 - May 2024
Daenamusup : Archiving Rumors in the Age of Artificial Intelligence is an interactive installation inspired by the Korean folktale "The King with Donkey Ears''. It reimagines artificial intelligence as conduits of rumors, echoing the symbolism of bamboo trees as carriers and messengers of information. Engaging audiences in themes of anonymity, information travel, and narrative reproduction, Daenamusup sheds light on grapevine communication in the age of AI.

Synopsis
An interactive installation about the travel and reproduction of narrative. As the audience provides a piece of
information, artificial intelligence creates a rumor and archives it in an imaginary bamboo forest.
A visitor steps into a dimmed space, enveloped by a pervasive green light
As they approach the installation, the
ambient soundscape draws them in with its curious and inviting aura. Positioned in front of an iPad, illuminated
by a hanging green light, the visitor encounters a button on the screen: "Enter the Bamboo Forest." Intrigued,
they press it, initiating an animated journey into the mystical world of the bamboo forest.
Hello wanderer, welcome to the enchanting world of the bamboo forest...
For the next ninety seconds, they immerse themselves in the unfolding narrative. Upon its conclusion, they are
prompted with introspective questions :
What's a hidden fear or insecurity that you've been holding onto?
What's something you've never told anyone before?
How will they respond?
Will they reveal hidden fears or untold truths?
Subsequently, as the visitor submits
their response, the sound of a strong wind envelops them, signaling the dissemination of their contribution. The
generated rumors show up on the wall, embodying the artificial intelligence's interaction with their secret. Will
they recognize the AI's influence? Will they find humor or unease in the generated rumor?
As visitors navigate the digital bamboo forest, they are invited to notice the interplay between the natural world
and artificial intelligence, while also experiencing the whimsical and mysterious atmosphere created by the
swirling rumors and artificial voices.

The audience engages with a refined GPT4 model via iPad, contributing to the generation of rumors based on their input. These rumors, serving as reflections of collective consciousness, find their home in an imaginary bamboo forest, where they're archived and displayed in the form of real-time visuals and soundscape. Daenamusup prompts reflection on the intricate interplay between technology, storytelling, and human perception.
